Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable and yet powerful characters has earned her the title of one of today's greatest American actors. Born to a renowned playwright father, but was raised by a single mom who worked by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation she started the beginning of her Broadway career. Two years later, she was on television. Innumerable appearances in films, and television and stage shows since. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her time on the stage. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Award nominations. In spite of all the distinctions and awards, theater is her main interest and she will continue to perform on screen and stage.
